Capacitors for Motor Run Applications

|
Application:
In addition to motor run
applications these capacitors
have been designed for air
conditioning, power conversion
equipment and fluorescent
lighting. This series is
designed for use in
markets/applications where
UL/CSA approvals are not
required. For more design
options, see SPRAGUE™
328P motor run
capacitors, having UL, CSA, VDE
approvals. |

CONSTRUCTION:
The Saha
Antex™ A7 Series capacitor is
designed using two layers of
polypropylene film which have
been vacuum deposited with
special combination of metals to
act as the electrodes of the
capacitor . Two such layers are
wound into sections using high
speed winding equipment with
computerized tension and speed
controllers. Since the
metallisation on the film is
usually less than a micron in
thickness, its current carrying
capacity is extremely low. To
overcome this the two ends of
the section is provided with
deposited metallisation layer
which can now handle relatively
high current that is very evenly
distributed across the entire
electrode. This metallised area
also provides for the attachment
of the internal terminals. These
sections are impregnated in a
special low viscosity fluid and
then inserted into aluminum cans
and filled with another
specially formulated material
which is biodegradable and
environmentally friendly. These
units are now sealed in an
airtight manner and undergo a
series of inspections before
they are finally dispatched.
Since
these capacitors are self
clearing in nature they have
tendency to repair itself in the
case of a failure by evaporating
the metallised area and creating
a self margin. Thus making it as
the preferred choice for motor
run applications, air
conditioning and fluorescent
lighting.
SAFETY
DEVICE
The
ANTEX™ A7 Series are
constructed in a manner that
should for any reason there be
excessive gas buildup due to
overhearing of the capacitor
unit, the front end of the
capacitor will expand forward
and disconnect the capacitor
cell from its terminal. Care
should be taken at the time of
installation of the capacitor so
as to allow a minimum margin of
10mm from the top of the unit to
allow for the expansion.
